BEDOUIN BURGER - CANADA DEBUT - LIVE IN MONTREAL
Join us on September 11 at Bar Le Ritz for the debut performance of Bedouin Burger in Montreal, one of the region’s most groundbreaking bands! The Paris-based ebullient duo, made of Lebanese underground pioneer and producer Zeid Hamdan and euphonious Syrian singer, composer and musician Lynn Adib, are renowned for seamlessly blending timeless Arabic folk with pioneering electronica, and nomadic aesthetics with synthetic, futuristic and pop-funk sensualities in a sonically epicurean new work. Their thumping rhythms, stirring vocals and propulsive beats bring together the traveling souls of Bedouin nomads with the free-spirit of our fast-paced era.
Bedouin Burger brings an innovative sound that invites urban dwellers to lose themselves in the soulful, nomadic, jazzy, and electronic beats of the Levante. Their music is enriched with a lyrical sprinkling of Arabic poetry, creating a unique and immersive experience.
Don't miss the chance to sway to their gripping singles like "Taht El Wared" (Beneath the Roses), "Ya Man Hawa," and "Dabkeh," which have garnered widespread acclaim and led to performances at esteemed events like Midem Digital Edition 2021, NPR Tiny Desk Concert, and Global Fest in New York.
Lynn Adib showcases a variety of Arabic dialects, from her native damascene dialect, to an enchanting Yemeni accent, alongside her unique compositions. Lynn’s voice displays a wide array of singing styles from the Andalusian Muwashah, to soft ballads and indigenous lullabies inspired by the expansive region between the Arabian peninsula and the Levante.
Zeid Hamdan goes an extra mile in exhibiting a unique selection of his musical instruments, from the guitalele to a 1980s Yamaha synth he acquired in Turkey to play quarter tones, up to the Yamaha CS Preface and a wide array of percussions. Zeid Hamdan has generously shared his collection of instruments on this album while using very little plug-ins and taking sounds directly from equipment.
